This can help you understand passages with which you are struggling. Just listen carefully, it may well be that the second part of a passage has almost the same meaning as the first part you have not understood. Identifying redundant passages Study the text passages below and draw lines between those which have the same or a similar meaning. 2 1. There is so much waste created by internet trade practices. 2. Essential services to the community have disappeared because they cannot compete with the prices of internet retailers. 4. Their employees, however, are being exploited and have to accept these working conditions for providing services far beyond their pay in value. 7. Who would not take advantage of such regulations if they can without breaking the law? 8. It is an advantage to be able to order things on the internet and get them shortly after without even leaving your home. 9. Repurposing goods which were sent back leads to higher costs than discarding them in one way or another. 10. Internet traders can only be so competitive because they often ignore workers’ rights and pay very low wages. 11. Most of the specialised shops went bust because they lost a large amount of business to internet trading companies. 12.
