7 Celebrities 37 Learning vocabulary: Recording vocabulary When you encounter new vocabulary, you need to use various techniques to help yourself remember the word. First, though, you need to decide how important the word is for you. It is a good idea to collect as much information as possible about the word such as: • the meaning of the word • how to spell it • how to pronounce it • grammatical information about the word (noun, verb, adjective, etc.) • which phrases it typically occurs in (collocations) • which other words it is related to (word family) • how the word is made up (what other words or affixes are part of the word) • example sentences You can record this information in notebooks, on word cards or on your digital devices. a) Below you can find example entries of eight words related to the film industry.
