Speaking – Paired activity: Work in the future The Youth Employment Network is exploring what work will look like for future generations, and we’re interested in your thoughts. You and your partner have ten minutes to discuss the following work-related topics and decide on the two you consider most important: • the role of schools: Preparing students for a future with AI • communication skills: The importance of oral communication skills in an AI-driven job market • learning languages: The ability to communicate in multiple languages • the role of creativity: Creativity as an advantage in an AI world • your own suggestion Writing: A report Experts in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) are needed urgently. However, the number of students studying these subjects at university has gone down significantly in the past years. The European School Advisory Council has started a project to encourage students to study STEM subjects. As a first step, they are collecting reports from students all over Europe. Write a report to the project group of the Council. In your report you should • describe the current curriculum (lessons and content) of your school, • explain why students are (not) interested in STEM subjects, • suggest ways to get students more interested.
