The film is a standalone sequel to Searching (2018) and was written and directed by Will Merrick and Nick Johnson. It stars Storm Reid, Joaquim de Almeida, Ken Leung, Amy Landecker, Daniel Henney and Nia Long. The film follows 18-year-old June (Reid), who misses her mother Grace (Long) after she fails to return from a trip to Colombia with her new boyfriend Kevin (Leung). June believes Kevin has something to do with her mother’s disappearance and begins searching for clues online. She hacks into Kevin’s e-mail account, discovers his criminal past and finds out that he has multiple identities. June must hurry to find her mother before it’s too late. Missing is a gripping and surprising film that shows both the opportunities and dangers of the digital world. The film makes use of the computer screen to tell its exciting story and successfully keeps up the pace. Reid, who plays a brave and intelligent heroine, excels as an actress in the movie. Long and Leung are likewise convincing as the mysterious parental figures. I recommend Missing to everyone interested in a gripping and original thriller. The film is not a typical action film, but a clever mystery. It makes you think about the role of technology in our lives. My personal opinion is that Missing is an entertaining and exciting film that continues to develop the screenlife genre. 3 66 Fifteen minutes of fame Nur zu Prüfzwecken – Eigentum des Verlags öbv
