88 B2+ | 8. Klasse | Unit 07: For science! Sometimes the kids speak different languages with their mother and father. Sometimes the non-German speaking parent speaks German to their partner, but their (7) language with the kids, and so on. Still, what all the families had in (8) is that the kids learned to speak their parents’ languages in the end. My (9) about culture were even more mixed. It looked like every (10) family was different, and there was a wide range of approaches, from families who only celebrated Austrian holidays and never holidays from the other culture, to families who ate only food from the non-Austrian parent’s culture and never Austrian food. So, I decided to interview some families to learn more. Two families agreed to be (11) by me. I prepared a list of questions, and I was very nervous about the interviews, but in the end, it was just like having a normal conversation. My interview partners confirmed that there are many different (12) of raising bilingual children, but that children usually learn both languages (13) . As for culture, they explained that it’s easier to stay in touch with the non-Austrian culture if the (14) where the parent is from is not too far away. After all of this, I was ready to write my paper and submit it to my (15) for feedback. I have learned a lot from my final project paper. Most of all, talking to bilingual families made me realise that growing up in a bilingual family makes people flexible, and I think we could all learn a lot from that. 0 only 8 1 9 2 10 3 11 4 12 5 13 6 14 7 15 What is an abstract?
