way2go! Kompetenztraining Reading & Listening B2

43 Arts and culture | When you are doing a listening task, as well as identifying the cue words the speaker uses for each question, you need to identify where the answer comes in the audio recording. Sometimes this will be very soon after the cue e.g. in the same sentence, but sometimes the answer will be given in the following sentence, or even the one after that. In many listening tasks, the answer may be in a variety of places – sometimes close to the cue and sometimes later – so you need to concentrate. Identifying cues and answers You are going to listen to a conversation between two friends who are talking about a music festival in the UK called Glastonbury. First, look at the questions and underline what you think the cue words might be. 1 What is the first reason Calum gives for having stopped attending festivals? 2 What does Calum say about the large number of people at festivals? 3 Which place at festivals does Calum consider to be a health risk? 4 According to Georgie, which group of people are now catered to at festivals? 5 What does Georgie consider the singer Josh Neville to be? Now listen and answer the questions. Use a maximum of four words. Listen again and identify the cue. Does the answer come in the same sentence as the cue or later? Choose S (in the same sentence) or L (later). 1 Cue: S L 2 Cue: S L 3 Cue: S L 4 Cue: S L 5 Cue: S L Look again at your answers in exercise 2. Are there any words you can leave out of the answer? Now check your answers to exercises 1 and 3. 1 2 73t56p 13 3 4 5 Key Nur zu Prüfzwecken – Eigentum des Verlags öbv
