62 Understanding implied meaning Working with vocabulary Authors often give their opinions on the topics they write about. The opinion may be stated literally, or it may be implied, i.e. the author may say it indirectly. Authors have various ways of doing this, e.g. by using language that just ‘hints at’ what they think rather than saying it directly. Read the following blog post.
