Their restaurant was different from other restaurants then. It was fast and it was cheap. Usually, people sat in restaurants and waited a long time. In the McDonald’s brothers’ restaurant, you got your burger in seconds. And they cost only 15 cents. There was one more thing too: they were delicious2. Soon, people from all over San Bernardino came to the restaurant and it was always full and busy. One day in 1954 a man came into the restaurant. His name was Ray Kroc. He was a salesman3 for a milkshake machine company. He wanted to sell a milkshake machine to Dick and Mac. But when he saw the restaurant and all the customers there, he was amazed4. Mr Kroc died in 1984, but he then had more than 6,000 restaurants in 27 different countries.
