Sample blog post Shelley_Reed Should we all eat less meat? Did you know that eating meat destroys our planet in many ways? Let’s face it, we all know that eating too much meat leads to health conditions like obesity or heart issues. You might also consider how much pollution meat production causes. Just think of the huge farms where thousands of animals are kept. How much waste and methane gas are produced every day? The waste flows into our rivers, contaminating the water. And have you ever asked yourself how many crops have to be planted just to feed the animals? Shouldn’t we grow fruit and vegetables for us to eat? What is more, these animals often lead miserable lives; they don’t even have enough space to move. I doubt that their meat is healthy. Well, I decided to change my eating habits. At first I calculated how often I actually eat meat products. I wrote a diary for one month, which gave me a good overview. As I really love burgers, I switched to vegetarian alternatives. I also replaced salami and ham or bacon with spicy spreads made from beans or chickpeas in my sandwiches. It was really easy to do! So, why don’t we all eat less meat? It DOES matter whether you eat a steak or fried vegetables! How about tasting something new? You can find a growing number of plant-based dishes these days. For meat lovers there are even vegetarian products that taste like meat! Wouldn’t you feel good knowing that you are boosting your health and helping our beautiful planet by eating vegetarian more often?
