Eddie Morrison Healthy social media habits? Here are three tips on how to use social media in a healthy way: My first tip is to POST LATER; do you really need to post a meal with friends while you’re actually having it? MANAGE YOUR SCHEDULE and build some fixed offline time into your day. CHOOSE CAREFULLY what brands you want to follow. We should decide what truly inspires us and create our social media use around it. What are your social media habits? Reply Sample blog comment > Emily_12, emily_longston12@email.co.uk I’d like to comment on Eddie’s tips for creating a balance between social media use and real life. This has triggered many discussions with my friends. Even though I like to communicate what I am doing, I find it extremely impolite to keep posting things while you are with your friends. Has this ever happened to you? You are sitting around a table, sharing a meal with a group of friends and everybody is looking into their phone, taking pictures and posting them? We did not make any real connection and no one communicated, which I found truly sad! When did we stop enjoying time together? I suggested uploading everything later, for example, on the way back home, and put the phones aside for the evening. Believe it or not, everybody liked the idea and we had so much fun! I mean, I’m not at all against social media, but dividing time between offline contacts and online ones is vital to me. Your idea of following a schedule sounds good, but I find it really difficult to do because every day is different and this disrupts any schedule. So, I’m still trying to find a good solution. How do you do it? What you said about brands is so true! I’d strongly urge everyone to think twice before following any. We all look for things online and this creates personalised ads anyway. Sometimes I go anonymous on my mobile so that no tracking is possible. This has proven really beneficial when looking for flights or hotels. Did you know that some sites automatically increase the prices when you click on something twice because it shows you are interested? How sneaky this is! Let me know if you’ve had any similar experiences!
