9 1.5 Guided writing Tip T Topic sentence A topic sentence is almost always the first sentence of a paragraph. It tells you what the paragraph is about. The rest of the paragraph contains sentences with facts, details and examples that support the topic sentence. Elaborating topic sentences Add further sentences to the topic sentences below.
