As there is a lack of medical assistance, the working environment is often unhygienic and unhealthy for the workers. Sexual harassment is also a widespread issue . Moreover , children who have to work in clothes factories cannot go to school, as the children and their families would consequently lose their jobs and their income . Companies are reluctant to stop this as child labour is cheap. In addition to that , textile companies often split the work process among different subcontractors who only produce certain parts of the products, which makes it almost impossible to protect workers’ rights. The Clean Clothes Campaign tries to inform the public to put pressure on the textile companies to stop these practices.
