This organisation deals with the human rights situation of workers in the textile industry. These workers are mostly women and children. They publish articles which deal with the bad situation of workers in the textile industry. The workers in the textile industry have long working hours. They have to do overtime. Many don’t want this, but they have to do it. Overtime is often unpaid. There is also a lack of medical assistance. And the working environment is often dirty and not good for the workers. There is also sexual harassment in many places. Children who have to work in clothes factories cannot go to school. The companies do not want to stop this. Child labour is cheap. Children would lose their jobs and money. Textile companies often split up the work process. Different subcontractors produce parts of the products. This makes it almost impossible to protect workers’ rights. The Clean Clothes Campaign tries to inform the public. This way it wants to put pressure on the textile companies to stop these practices. It urges companies to sign an agreement on labour standards. This would be good for the workers in the textile industry. 80  5 10 Nur zu Prüfzwecken – Eigentum des Verlags öbv
