However, your flight to London was delayed by more than three hours and so you missed the second flight to Edinburgh. Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing to you to complain about a serious flight delay on our trip from Vienna to Edinburgh (via London Heathrow). The flight was supposed to depart from Vienna on July 12 at 9:15 a.m., but it was delayed by more than three hours due to the late arrival of the air- craft and also because the crew was not fit to fly. Eventually our take-off time was 1:20 p.m. Moreover, the passengers were not fully informed about the problems and had to wait at the gate without being served food or drinks. Needless to say that we missed the onward flight to Edinburgh, where we finally arrived at 10:30 p.m. instead of 2:55 p.m. As we had booked this flight with another airline, we had to cancel our ticket and rebook, which cost us a considerable amount of money apart from the stress involved. I enclose the receipts and the tickets to prove our point. As a consequence of our late arrival we also missed the play that we wanted to see at the Edinburgh Festival. We think that we are entitled to financial compensation under European law. In addition to the compensation for the delay we also think that we should be compensated for the long wait without being properly looked after by the airline and for the play we missed.
