15 Text types 3 Each prompt gives you detailed information about the text type, which is a key feature of each task. As it is important to get the text type right, stick to the prompt and do everything as required. Work your way through the list of bullet points and tick them off, so that you do not forget any of them. Remember to write at least one sentence for each point. This makes sure that you have at least tried to deal with the prompt thoroughly. Remember to use the layout, the salutations, etc. in exactly the same way as you have learned it. Be careful when you deal with topics about which you feel strongly. Focus on the topic and leave your emotions aside.    Think     g    Sort     g    Plan     g    Write    g  Proofread/Correct •• Collect ideas. •• Write down everything that comes to your mind when you think about the topic. •• Group your ideas and sort them. •• Which ideas belong together? •• Design a plan. •• What comes first? •• What comes last? •• What is the structure of the text? •• Stick to your plan when writing. •• Tick off each point after you have dealt with it. •• Proofread your text – only one category of mistakes/features (e.g. tenses, style) at a time. •• Make corrections where necessary. 3.1 E-mails/Letters 3.1.1 Informal e-mails/letters Informal e-mails usually deal with private matters and are only intended to be read by the person addressed.
