Blog comment – sample answer 250 words Rashid_M Sports? No, thanks! … Doing sports – I’ve always hated it. There’s always someone lecturing you how doing sports is healthy, how it reduces stress and boosts your self- esteem. Such nonsense! Well, running, cycling, swimming – it just isn’t for me, and I’m perfectly healthy, thank you very much. reply Gerry.KS <gerald.kensington@goodmail.com > Reading your comments on sports I can only say that I couldn’t agree with you more. People are always saying that sports keep you healthy, but as long as you eat a balanced diet and are a healthy weight, you don’t need to be sporty. It’s much more important to be happy with your life and do the things you enjoy. Sports can actually be damaging to your health. Lots of people get injured by falling or bumping into another player in a team, and some people may even have heart attacks when pushing themselves to the limit. Although some might say that working out reduces stress, I think it does just the opposite. People who take their sports seriously and play in teams or compete have to get up really early and practise before school starts. They then have to do a whole day at school as well as homework and probably even more practice in the evenings. Also, there’s so much pressure on athletes to perform well and keep winning. It could be argued that physical exercise is good for your self-esteem, but no one wins all the time, and it must make people feel awful when they lose. Plus, there’s so much competition that you’d be comparing yourself to everyone else all the time and wondering if they’re better than you. If you do a lot of sport, you also need to keep in shape, which means watching what you eat – all the time! reply Bullet point 1 Bullet point 2 Bullet point 3 Give the reader something to think about.
