Childhood memories Reading: Ally’s Blog Ally asked her mum to write a post on her blog as a guest author. a) Read the post. Dear readers of Ally’s Blog, I’m Ally’s mum. Now, after 40 years, we have come back to Sankt Magdalena, the place where I was born and where I spent most of my childhood. Of course, the village isn’t the same as it was 40 years ago. It used to be such a quiet place with little traffic and just one tiny corner shop next to the school building. Today it is a touristy place. They have built two ski lifts in the nearby mountains, and some of the beautiful meadows have been turned into car parks. The village centre used to be our favourite meeting place. We used to meet in the little park in front of the school, buy ourselves some ice cream in the summer and sit under the huge willow tree, where we chatted for hours. I can’t tell you how I feel about all the changes. What used to be our park has become a public swimming pool. They have cut down our beloved willow tree, and, of course, the ice cream stand has gone too. The school has been completely modernised. This is a fine change. They have mended the old roof and have painted the whole building. Also, the windows have been renewed. I must admit that I really feel nostalgic about the corner shop next to the school. It’s where I used to buy those lovely crisp rolls for breakfast, which we miss a lot back home in England. The whole building has been pulled down and a huge supermarket has been built in its place. Well, St Magdalena is no longer what it used to be for me as a little girl, but I suppose changes must happen otherwise we’d be left behind. w77y3v 8 Home About me Topics Coming back to Sankt Magdalena 5 10 15 20 25 St. Magdalena a ♥ W E L C O M E T O 92 11 Unit Coming back ninety-two Nur zu Prüfzwecken – Eigentum des Verlags öbv
