Talking about wanderlust Reading: Ally’s WWOOFing experience a) Read Ally’s Blog about her summer experience in New Zealand. Hello, my dear listeners and now readers! My holidays in a land far, far away have left me without my usual podcasting equipment, but not without my voice. I find my experiences in this corner of the world too exciting not to share. So here is all I’ve learned about WWOOFing (yeah, you read that right!) in New Zealand: WWOOFing, if you haven’t heard about it, is a mix of travelling and work experience. You stay at organic farms or parks and help out in exchange for accommodation and food. I’d never thought that my parents were interested in this way of travelling, but here I am, in the middle of nowhere with only few people but hundreds of sheep for company. l Here are a few things I have learned so far:  I like spending lots of time outdoors.  I like getting to know a country through its people.  I really enjoy trying new things.  I don’t like sleeping in a tent.   I was not a big fan of sheep before, and I won’t become one in the future.  I’m not good at cooking. Since our arrival we have stayed at five different locations in the country. Sometimes we were the only guests; sometimes we became part of a large WWOOFing community while helping out at a farm. We also visited some of New Zealand’s cities and toured the national parks in a rental car. In the beginning we didn’t get very far, though, as our car broke down on a very lonely road at night…! But more about this adventure in my next post! Keep calm and travel ON. l As always, I’m interested in your comments below. fanboy057 Hi Ally, your New Zealand trip sounds like a great adventure! I travelled through the country two years ago with a group of friends. Make sure you don’t miss the Lord of the Rings movie set! Staying at different farms and helping sounds great, too! I think I’d like to try “WWOOFing” one day! All the best for the rest of the holiday; take care! b) Tick the correct answer.
