Verdeckt nie den Mikrofonkorb mit der Hand. Das kann zu Rück- kopplungen führen – dem berüchtigten Pfeifen aus den Lautsprechern. Viele Mikrofone haben eine Richtcharakteristik, so dass sie hauptsächlich den Schall aufzeichnen, der direkt von vorn auf das Mikrofon gerichtet ist. Wenn ihr also von der Seite oder von weit weg ins Mikro- fon singt, ist das Ergebnis nicht optimal. Am besten ist es, ihr haltet das Mikrofon beim Singen so nah am Mund, dass ihr es fast mit den Lippen berührt. Singt zunächst gleichmäßig laut ins Mikrofon. Wenn ihr euch an das Singen mit Mikrofon gewöhnt habt, könnt ihr mit der Dynamik experimentieren, indem ihr das Mikrofon mal näher oder weiter weg haltet. Erst wenn ihr so gut mit dem Mikrofon umgehen könnt, dass eure Stimme trotz Verstärkung immer noch natürlich klingt, solltet ihr mit den Echo- und Halleffekten des Mischpults experimentieren.
