seventy-one 71 Text 4 A At Moscow Airport two men waited for the announcement of their flight to London. “Try not to look so nervous,” the taller one said. “People will notice us.” “But I am nervous. What if it doesn’t work?” his friend answered. “We won’t have any problems. Trust me! Ah! I’ve just seen the right person. She’s exactly the woman we need.” B “There she is! Hi, Sue! We’re here!” Sue Clarke was really happy when she heard her parents’ voices at Heathrow Airport. She had enjoyed her trip to Moscow but she was tired and it was good to be home again. She thanked the woman with whom she had walked from the plane and through Passport Control and Customs. Then she took her mother’s arm and walked with her to the car. Her father came behind with her luggage. Suddenly somebody tugged on Sue’s handbag. “Hey!” her father shouted. “What’s happening?” Sue asked. “Some bloke tried to put his hand into your bag,” her dad explained. “Would you close it, Sue? It’s lucky I saw him.” C When they arrived at their house, nobody noticed the car which stopped on the other side of the street. Sue took off her shoes and her mum put them away. “I’m sorry that we have to go back to work now,” said Mrs Clarke. “Don’t worry,” Sue answered. “I can rest and we can talk later this evening. It was great that you could meet me at the airport.” “I’ll just take your bags down to your flat,” said her dad. The flat Sue lived in was in the basement. Sue had been blind since birth. But although she had always needed help, she wasn’t helpless. She was really as independent as most young women. D She put her suitcase on a chair and sat on her bed. Then she remembered something. The mobile phone she always carried with her was still in her handbag. She picked up the bag and felt for the mobile.
