But Mr Muir still took the two of us down into the dungeons. We got in the lift and closed the door. It started to go down. It was really loud in the old lift so we couldn’t talk. When we got to the bottom, Mr Muir opened the door. It was dark and very cold down there. When we spoke, there was a loud echo. “This is so cool!” we said. “Thanks, Mr Muir. We’ve never been in a castle dungeon before.” “Well, we’re right under the castle here, and we’re under the water of the Loch, too.” It was really scary. When it was time to take the lift back up, Mr Muir asked us, “Why were you two in a hurry the other day?” “We were following these weird guests who stayed at the B & B. They said they were going fishing, but we saw them put a mini- submarine in the Loch. Now it’s in all the newspapers.” “Really?” said Mr Muir. “Well, I haven’t got time for newspapers. What happened?” “They wanted to prove that Nessie is a fake,” I told him. 360 365 370 375 380 “Nessie a fake?” said Mr Muir. “Pah! Well, what did they find?” “They went under water and they heard some terrible noises … just like a monster! They were really scared! They told us to run for our lives!” Mr Muir just laughed. “Do you think there really is a creature in the Loch, Mr Muir?” we asked. “I don’t know, kids. But I think I know what those scientists heard.” Mr Muir pressed a button and the lift started to come down with a lot of noise. It made a terrible echo in the dungeons. “Do you hear that?” he asked. “If you’re in a submarine under the Loch, I’m sure it sounds just like a terrible monster!” “Wow!” we said. “You mean that’s all it was? Your old lift?” “It’s just an idea,” smiled Mr Muir. “Maybe there is a creature in the Loch, who can say?” The end e A story Nu zu Prüfzw cken – Eigentum des Verlags öbv
